back in los angeles...
after a quick trip to ventura (about 1 1/2 hours north of la) on saturday ben and i stopped into the Tonga Hut - which is purported to be la's oldest tiki bar. it was pretty rad. they had carved easter island-style heads - ok - night at the museum style heads, (dum dum wants gum gum), and fruity bevvies. i had the "squirrel of paradise" which is guaranteed to make you squirrelly - per the menu. i biffed my jukebox selections by not realizing you have to pause between inputs - which resulted in some creepy trash metal interspersed with what i intended - sergio mendes and duran duran. the rockabilly lady at the bar was unpleased.
