clearly, halloween is the best day of the year. the second best day of the year is the sunday before halloween, that's when the Long Beach Dog Parade takes place. this year over 600 dogs strutted their stuff in the parade. here are a few highlights:

a whole heckofalot at the Marinello Spa Academy - where they wax your legs with the little spoons that come with ice cream sundaes (look in the bottom left corner) and they let McCain supporters go crazy with the label maker.

Visiting the house of Jackie Treehorn

i am a HUGE fan of The Big Lebowski. i am also a huge fan of mid-century design and architecture. so i was simply jazzed to see, while perusing gossip site D-Listed a few weeks ago, that the Armand Hammer Museum in LA was offering a tour of the John Lautner-designed 'Sheats/Goldstein Residence' on October 12.

in The Big Lebowski, Jackie Treehorn (known pornographer and producer of Logjammin') lives in the Sheats/Goldstein residence. the movie makes it look like it's in malibu - which it is not. but other than that, it looks EXACLTY like in the film. lotta ins, lotta outs, lotta what-have-yous.

an ever newer adventure in hair removal

i'm pretty much broke (thanks to THAT ONE, i guess) and that lends itself to creative thinking in the hair removal department. shaving, which is free, is not an option.

therefore, i just made an appointment for a full leg and underarm wax at the Marinello Spa Academy on fairfax. even if they're students, they have to be AT LEAST as good as the lady in the back room of the nail salon, right?

Halloween preparations are really coming together

Fond Memory - Halloween Costume 2005 - Bird Flu

halloween is on a friday this year, which means a lot less halloween - usually if it's on a weekday, people have parties the weekend before and that extends the halloween festivities. in order to get the most halloween for our buck, ben and i got tickets to the LACMA masquerade ball on november 1st. sure it's $42 each, but $84 is a small price to pay for a second halloween!

the west hollywood drag races and pet costume contest are in direct conflict with the long beach howl-o-ween doggie dressup parade! what are revelers to do, choose? that's on october 26th, the sunday before.

we did a lot of good costume component gathering this weekend. here are a few items purchased:

black bejewled elastic belt
white ralph lauren lounge pants
white bathrobe
toy electric guitar


i'm VERY excited that we decided what to be. please come to our house on actual halloween night to assemble before the annual strut up and down santa monica blvd. only my favey day of the year.
