now that i've been to pole dancing 4 times, i decided it's time to step it up and get some real proper shoes for class. real proper shoes for class are really high, really platformy, and really vinyly or maybe lucitey.
after a delicious dinner at OMI sushi last week, ben and i stopped in at Love Connection, our friendly neighborhood amyl nitrite emporium. when kim visited a few years ago she picked up two pairs of stripper shoes at Love Connection, so we went in to check out their selection.
problem with their selection is the shoes, although really high, platformy, vinyly and lucitey, were HUGE. like, shaquille o'neal huge - or maybe just RuPaul/Lady Bunny huge. the gent working the counter asked if he could help us, i said they all looked a lot bigger than i needed and did he have smaller sizes. so he says (and this is why I love West Hollywood)...
"are they for you or (pointing to ben) him ?"
best place to live. ever.

wine tasting with 10 year olds in laguna beach
ben's family is renting a beachfront condo for the month, so we are visiting today. we are here using the photobooth feature of my computer to take pictures of ben's nieces, lily (who is turning 10 next week! double digits!!) and avery, who is turning 4 in july.

lily definitely prefers the sauvignon blanc

to the chardonnay

two sips too many

avery is hosting a tea party - but she keeps warning us that she's serving poison. apparently her tea has asparagus, macaroni and cheese, grapes and poison in it. yummers.

not quite OK GO (but still fun)
today i tried a new class at crunch called 'tread ride' - it's essentially a treadmill class but you use the treadmill in a variety of ways, with varying inclines and speeds. sometimes with dumbells. you also do standing pushups by putting your feets on the sides of the machine and putting your arms on the rails.
but the best past was walking backwards and sideways. it made me feel like a much klutzier version of these guys:
