Posting from Jury Duty

I am on jury duty. This does not mean i am here waiting to see if i'll get picked, or hoping that i wont be. That was last week. On wednesday of last week i was not only picked to be a JUROR! but i was picked to be a juror on what is probably going to be a 14 day case. that's 14 court days. or almost 3 weeks!

Good things about jury duty are:

1. our judge is a lady and a saucy lady at that. she often times has been caught rolling her eyes or mouthing "come on!" when people are on the stand. My jury friends swear they've caught her surfing on myspace during testimony.

2. i have made friends with at least 3 of my co-panelists. (here they are) until the trial is over i will refer to them as jurors #1, #6 and #7 - so's that the parties involved do not try to contact them through my blog to sweet talk them or try to buy their vote.


3. downtown la is pretty rad. i park at the disney music hall and strut around this courthouse like i know where i'm going.

4. right now i'm in the jury holding-room, which is where all the people who are waiting to see if they'll get picked are hanging out. they have wireless internet in here and also they have people snoring, yammering on cel phones, and making excuses for why they can't serve.

i am due upstairs to my courtroom in a few minues. i'm juror #4. Here's a sweet pic of my badge.

Introducing Simmona and Kawai Ede

These are my friends Simmona and Kawai. They are the children of Camille (very close friend for over 20 years) and Kaleo Ede (husband of Camille and very close friend for 13 years). Simmona is almost 3 years old and Kawai (the "w" is prounounced like a "v") is 6 months old. They are beautiful and wonderful children and I am so lucky because they and their parents live only 15 minutes away.

The return of the Bloggy

big news to anyone who might still check this blog. i'm sure outside of lubes who emailed me this morning, there are approximately zero checkers checking.

the big news is that i got a new computer! i bought it used off of craigslist from a man named david with rough hands and sausage fingers. it's a macbook and it's only 3 months old - upgraded memory, still under warrantly, and has a built in camera which as you can see takes unflattering self-portraits.

hopefully having a computer again will mean that i can update this and maybe that means something exciting will happen so i can type about it.

not ashamed to say that I LOVE HOOTERS

it is true. i love hooters. and not boobies. watching that 2girls1cup video today was enough to put me off bazongas (thanks to franses for teaching me this word) forever.

but HOOTERS - the restaurant. the good time party place. i fargin' LOVE going to hooters. it is delightfully tacky, yet unrefined. at least that's what their menu says. things i love about hooters include:

1. the bud light that comes in the special orange aluminum bottle



2. buffalo chicken strips - for the past few weeks i've been crazy for buffalo flavor. i do not know if it's the vinegar or the spice but i'm wanting all buffalo all the time, mozzarella included.

3. Bran Muffin - my favorite hooters girl. her name is Brandi and she's rarely at "my" hooters (in santa monica a mere 3 blocks from work.) on account of her career as a backup dancer for bands on tour. but she was there tonight, chasing a busboy around with a fruit roll up hanging out of her mouth, hiking her orange spanks up her rear and then doing pushups/tricep dips on the bar with her co-waitress. she's not cute but she sure is funny. world renowed for her monkey impression. she taught me that black hooters girls have to wear the same shade of nylons as the white girls. and that they cost $5 in the locker room. no runs allowed.

monday night was the premiere of JUNO, which is the first movie i've worked on that my name appears in the opening titles. that got ben and me invited to the premiere. here we are with the track team that appears at all juno-related events.
